JUST FOR KICKS
SOCCER
  The “Just For Kicks” Summer Soccer Program is for children Kindergarten through 4th grade.
   
 

The format is 5-a-side on a reduced size playing field.  This is a developmental league, with an emphasis on ball control, teamwork, and the short passing game.  It is not intended to be highly competitive, but rather to allow children to enjoy the game of soccer, while learning skills and that will help them be successful.  Character traits are also taught through a pre-game devotional each night.


The players’ commitment is once a week, on a weeknight, starting with the devotion.  The next 15-20 minutes of the time spent with both teams working together on soccer drills led by the coaches.  Then we’ll set up the field and the remainder of the hour will have the children divided into teams and using those skills in a game situation. 

   
   
RULES
  Rules have been modified to provide an environment where scoring is easier and success is achievable for all players.
 
  • The game is played in seven minute quarters.
 
  • There are no offside calls.
 
  • Teams are co-ed.
 
  •  On goal kicks, the opposing team has to stand beyond the mid-field stripe
 
  • There are no goal keepers.
 
  • Shin guards are MANDATORY for all players
   
GAME SCHEDULE
 

Games start the week of June 16th, with final games the week of August 4th.

Games are played on weeknights, with no practices and no Saturdays.
Kindergarten will play on Monday evenings
1st and 2nd graders will play on Tuesday evenings
3rd and 4th graders will play on Wednesday evenings
The number of teams will depend on the registrations received.  Sessions will begin at 6:00 pm on the day above; if there are more registrations that that time period can handle, we will add a 7:15 session.

 

   
   
FEES & REGISTRATION
  The cost is $40 per player. Each child will receive a shirt and award.

Release of Liability/Hold Harmless Agreement

The Parent or Legal Guardian, in consideration of the acceptance of their child as a participant in this activity sponsored by Westerville Christian Church (WCC), does hereby:
