Matthew 4:19
"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
The prayer and endeavor of the Outreach Ministry is to become effective fishers of men. Every time the Body of Christ departs from worship into our community it is as though we are casting a fish net over our community. The Outreach Ministry is striving to strengthen, repair, and increase the size of our net as well as identifying the best waters in which to cast it. In the course of this year we will train each strand (ministry partner) of the Net here at WCC to identify the fish in their own natural relationships. We will assist them in developing a fishing strategy that is unique to each variety of fish. We will introduce ministry opportunities and events that will help increase the results each time we bring in the net.
I know that some are squeamish about fishing and baiting hooks and all. That’s all right! I can promise that for the most part there will be no need to touch ooey gooey things or things that squirm, flop, or jiggle. Well, some things may jiggle. The one thing I am certain of is that Jesus will give us success just as He did His disciples when He told them to cast their nets on the other side of the boat. Remember they had fished all night and caught nothing. But at Jesus’ instruction they cast their nets on the other side and the haul of fish was so large the nets began to burst. That is our goal here. Let’s go fishin’!
