It is our desire to show that we truly love God and love people. WCC has provided many outlets to provide help and encouragement to those near and far. The events listed below are just a few ways we want to show we care. We hope you will join us in our efforts.

Friday Fare

Friday Fare provides weekend meals for families whose children are part of the free lunch program at their school. There are a large number of these children, who get free lunch on school days, but may be going hungry on the weekend. Each backpack has 2 meals for a family of 4. Currently, WCC has been delivering backpacks to Mark Twain, Walnut Springs, Pointview, Longfellow, Central College, McVey, Hawthorne, Charrington, Emerson, Robert Frost, Whittier and one Columbus school – Beatty/Trevitt. Through these 13 schools, over 150 people in 39 families are served each week.

Westerville schools are in session, and we need food to fill the backpacks. Listed below are the food items needed. You can drop off these items at the display crate in the lobby. WCC volunteers will deliver backpacks filled with meals to families at the schools each week.

The following meal items will cost you just over $10. Meals are designed to feed a family of 4. Meals provide protein, starch & a fruit or vegetable. (Click on the + sign to expand)

Week One

Saturday Meal
  • 1 - 26 oz can of Campbell's condensed soup: tomato/cream of chicken/chicken noodle)
  • 1 - 28 oz jar peanut butter
  • 1 box crackers or 1 loaf of bread
  • 1 box fruit snacks (fortified w/ 100% vit. C & real fruit juice)
Sunday Meal
  • 1 box Betty Crocker Complete Meal: chicken variety
  • 1 - 28 oz can vegetables (or 2 - 15 oz cans) peas/corn/green beans/etc
  • 1 - 29 oz can fruit: fruit cocktail/peaches/pears/applesauce

Week Two

Saturday Meal
  • 1 - 40 oz can Chef Boyardee or Spaghetti O's
  • 1 - 29 oz can fruit
  • 1 - 14.4 oz box graham crackers
Sunday Meal
  • 1 box tuna Helper (doesn't include canned tuna)
  • 1 - 12 oz can tuna
  • 1 - 28 oz can vegetables (or 2 - 15 oz cans)
  • 1 - 13.7 oz box Cheez-its

Week Three

Saturday Meal
  • 2 boxes macaroni & cheese (add milk & margarine)
  • 1 - 29 oz can fruit
  • 1 box Quaker Oats chewy granola bars (8 per box)
Sunday Meal
  • 1 box Chicken Helper (doesn't include canned chicken)
  • 1 - 12 oz can chicken
  • 1 - 28 oz can vegetables (or 2 - 15 oz cans)
  • 4 Quaker Oat chewy granola bars (left from Saturday)

Week Four

Saturday Meal
  • 1 - 12 oz can tuna or chicken
  • 1 box crackers
  • 1 - 29 oz can fruit
Sunday Meal
  • 1 box Betty Crocker Complete Meal: beef variety
  • 1 - 28 oz can vegetables (or 2 - 15 oz cans)
  • 4 snack pudding cups
