Small Groups
...because TOGETHER is BETTER.

At Westerville Christian, our Small Groups are divided into five categories to help you find the type of group that would best fit you. Although they have a different focus, one thing remains the same with every group - their commitment to the four core values of Small Groups:
1. Sharing
2. Praying
3. Scripture
4. Service
SHARE Groups focus on growing together through fellowship. STUDY Groups focus on growing together through discipleship. SERVE Groups focus on growing together through serving together. SUPPORT Groups focus on growing together by supporting each other through specific seasons of life. STEP Groups focus on helping you understand and grow in your faith.

Share Groups

  • Acts 2:42-47 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

  • Share GroupThese groups meet regularly and focus on growing in fellowship through prayer, study, and spending time together – doing life together. Most of these groups meet in homes. There are a few that meet at the church or at a restaurant. Most SHARE groups are also co-ed, with married couples, dating couples, and singles. Click here for the Share Group Listing.

Study Groups

  • Romans 15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

  • 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness...

  • Study GroupThese groups meet with the main focus of discipleship. While each Study Group has opportunity for prayer and getting to know people more intimately, its primary purpose is to study the Word of God in a deep and applicable manner. If you desire a greater understanding of scripture, this might be a place for you. Most groups are either exclusively men or women, but there are a few co-ed groups as well. They meet everywhere from restaurants, to the church, to homes. Click here for the Study Group Listing.

Serve Groups

  • Psalm 82:3-4 Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

  • James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after the orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

  • Serve GroupThese groups gather together for the primary purpose of serving alongside one another. They may have a study topic and prayer time as well, but the main focus is serving together regularly in a ministry or outreach event. Due to the nature of these groups, there are many location possibilities. Click here for the Serve Group Listing.

Support Groups

  • 1 Corinthians 1:5-6 For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same suffering we suffer.

  • Support GroupThese groups meet for an established period of time for the primary purpose of supporting one another through a difficult or challenging season of life. This may be a financial group, a marriage group, a chemical dependency group, or some other type of group that brings people with similar circumstances together. Due to the nature of these groups, some may be "closed" after they begin. But there are always new groups preparing to start. Click here for the Support Group Listing.

Step Groups

  • Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

  • Step GroupThese groups meet for an established period of time and are designed to help people along their spiritual journey. We have found that spiritual growth must be intentional. We have designed classes in a sequential order so that you can understand your faith better, how you fit into the body of Christ, and ultimately how you can serve God and bring Him glory in all you do. The first step, Pizza & Pastors, is held once a month on the 3rd Wednesday at 6PM in the Global Cafe and Fireside Room. If you're new to WCC or just checking things out, this is a great place to start. Click here for the Step Group Listing.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

The plain and simple truth is that Jesus wants us to follow Him - everyday. He wants us to be His disciples. At WCC, we want people to take on the challenge from Jesus - take Him at His word and faithfully be His disciples. The following information consists of simple definitions and biblical action steps that we at WCC encourage you to use in your small group setting - and in your life.

Take 5-7 minutes at the beginning of your small group gathering to discuss only one letter of L.I.F.E. discipleship. Read the scripture passage and then answer the questions. Be consistent so "discipleship thinking" will stay on your minds and challenge your group to embrace a disciples lifestyle. Be prayerful, be intentional, and embrace the challenge and reward of following Jesus for the rest of your life.

Love God by living the Bible daily. (Knowledge)

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

  • What have you been learning from your daily Bible reading?
  • How has God been revealing Himself to you through Scripture?
  • Intentionally serve to glorify God. (Service)

Ephesians 6: 6-7 “Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people,

  • How have you been serving God lately?
  • In what ways has your service to God changed your life?
  • Follow Jesus faithfully with your actions. (Sacrifice)

Luke 14:27: “And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.”

  • What is your definition of disciple?
  • What in your life needs to be surrendered to continue growing as a disciple of Jesus?
  • Expect to live a full life in Christ. (Outcome)

John 10:10: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Christ first and everything else second! When we go, baptize, and teach we are ultimately living the life of a disciple of Jesus Christ. Expect then to have a full life in Christ as we continue to make Jesus renown to others. Isaiah 26:8: Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.

  • Where are you seeing God's fullness in your life?
  • In what way are you showing others how to live a full life?
  • Worship Times
